Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is not ruling out the possibility of corruption elements among law enforcement agencies which leads human trafficking syndicates to continue happening in the country.
He said if the existence of corruption among law enforcement agencies which oversee the nation's borders is true; the government will not hesitate to take legal action on those involved.
“I do not rule out the possibility of corruption elements.
“If it is true, if it involves people within the law enforcement agencies, legal action will also be taken,” said Ahmad Zahid during a press conference held soon after the briefing of the search and rescue (SAR) operation of the boat which sank off Sabak Bernam waters on Thursday.
He also admitted that there was still weakness in the security control along the borders in Malaysia.
“Yes, we must admit there are several weaknesses in terms of assets, lack of officers. But that is not the excuse to reduce enforcement,” said Ahmad Zahid.
However, he is not pointing fingers at law enforcement agencies on the incident which took place in Sabak Bernam.
