Singapore detects more than 2,000 new COVID-19 cases for second day on Sept 29

Of a total of 2,268 new cases, the republic's Ministry of Health (MOH) said 1,810 were cases reported in the community, 448 in the migrant worker dormitories, and 10 imported cases.

In its nightly data update, MOH said 1,335 cases are currently warded in hospital, of which 197 cases are of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation and 34 in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Over the last 28 days, of the 26,088 infected individuals, 98.1 per cent had no or mild symptoms, 1.6 per cent required oxygen supplementation, 0.2 per cent required ICU care, and 0.1 per cent has died.

The ministry said the eight deaths comprise elderly Singaporeans - with six of them unvaccinated against COVID-19.

In total, 93 have died from complications due to COVID-19 infection here.

As of Sept 28, MOH said 82 per cent of the population here has completed their full regimen or received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 85 per cent has received at least one dose.

The republic has administered a total of 9,157,529 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines under its national vaccination programme, including 196,211 booster doses.

In addition, 195,791 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organisation's Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) have been administered, covering 98,772 individuals.

As of noon Wednesday, the total caseload here stood at 94,043 with 16,643 active cases.
