UPSR leaks: Give us time to investigate - Police

Police have asked all parties concerned to give them time to investigate the recent leaks in the Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examinations.

Bukit Aman CID chief Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh said the task force will leave no stone unturned in its probe into the leaks.

“Investigations are ongoing. We will announce when there is a positive development,” he said when contacted by Astro AWANI today.

On Saturday, Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Low Hong Soon said police are focusing on three states – Johor, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur in their investigation into the leaked papers.

Low said the three states were identified based on the information gathered so far and added that the investigation would cover all aspects.

Mohmad also said the KL police will be leading the investigations in the three states.

On Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced the suspension of Examination Board director Dr Na’imah Ishak and deputy director of operations Dr Wan Ilias Wan Salleh over the leaks.

Muhyiddin had said that Na’imah had to take responsibility for the two leaked papers because it affects the integrity of the ministry and public examinations.

Meanwhile, Kosmo reported that the government will have to fork out millions of ringgit for the new sets of Science and English papers.

A source told the daily that the cost included paper cost, logistics, invigilators’ allowances and others for the exams.
