Woman, daughter crushed to death by coconut tree

A woman and her daughter were killed after a falling coconut tree crushed the car they were in at Jalan Hutan Lipur Cherok Tok'Kun here today.

Tan Sai Lang, 70, and her daughter, Heng Lee Liew, 44, from Taman Permata Indah here, died on the spot due to serious head injuries.

According to Tan's youngest son, Heng Lih Hwang, 40, his mother and sister left their home in the car at about 6 am to go jogging in the forest recreation park.

Meanwhile, Seberang Perai Tengah district Police Chief ACP Azman Abd Lah, when contacted, confirmed the incident.

He said their bodies had been sent to the Bukit Mertajam Hospital.
