Woman in Times Square suicide believed to be 'mentally unstable'
The 36-year-old woman who fell to her death yesterday morning at Berjaya Times Square had committed suicide, police confirmed today.
According to Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Zainuddin Ahmad, the deceased - Choo Czek Yeng - had a medical record of being mentally unstable. He said this was believed to be the cause of her actions.
“While there were no CCTV cameras, eye witnesses we spoke to saw her going over the railing on her own accord,” said Zainuddin.
On Thursday, the deceased was seen standing along the railing of the sixth floor of the shopping mall before her slamming into the ground floor.
Her death became a topic of discussion among social media users, and the phrase "Berjaya Times Square" became one of the trending topics on Twitter on February 14.
