KUALA LUMPUR:The Youth and Sports Ministry is working on a sports bubble model to be submitted to the National Security Council (MKN) in an effort to enable football matches to be held in the country.
Its Minister, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said they would collaborate with the National Sports Council (NSC) and stakeholders to refine the matter for the continuation of sports activities which had been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Of course I am hoping that sports activities can be held… we’re looking at the models being implemented overseas. I will make sure that next year’s sports activities can be held. We will convince MKN about this new ‘sports bubble’ model,” he said when winding up the debate on the Supply Bill 2021 in the Dewan Rakyat today.
He explained that football is one of the sports that has a huge market as every match is watched by almost eight million spectators.
The Dewan Rakyat sitting continues tomorrow.
