DAP, PAS support Azmin for Selangor MB post

A MATTER OF TIME? Speculation has been rife that Mohamed Azmin will replace Abdul Khalid as Selangor MB.
PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali is inching closer towards becoming the Selangor Menteri Besar, with PAS and DAP reportedly supporting his candidacy for the post, during a closed door Pakatan Rakyat (PR) meeting on Monday.
The final decision, however, will be decided by PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in due time.
According to a source within the coalition, PKR president and Kajang rep Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will be dropped off the candidacy list following PAS' rejection of having a female menteri besar.
"PAS does not agree to having a female MB. PAS wants Azmin and DAP has agreed, but out of respect, we will wait for Anwar's decision. The PR presidential council will have a final meeting prior to the party elections," the source said.
"Nomination will start after Hari Raya celebrations, as announced earlier," the source added.
On Monday, a news portal reported that Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is facing intense criticism from people within his party, who are demanding his resignation.
PR is said to be gathering voices from the grassroots, at the state and parliamentarian levels, to be brought forward to the central party committee before making a final decision on the Menteri Besar candidacy.
Anwar was also reported as saying that PR is not in a hurry to replace Abdul Khalid, adding that attempt to oust the MB was an internal matter and the party was finding a way to resolve the issue.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had earlier squashed speculations that UMNO had invited Abdul Khalid to join the party.
