Parti Amanah Negara not eyeing seats now - Mohamed Sabu
He said the ceramah last night in Kelantan also saw many PAS members who came to listen.
Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) is not eyeing for any MP or state seats for the 14th general elections for now.
Instead the new party is focusing on increasing the number of its members, said its chairman Mohamed Sabu.
Amanah which held its first ceramah at Kelantan last night has targeted to recruit more than 50,000 members by September 16.
Mohamed Sabu said Amanah is now giving out its membership forms and so are not able to confirm the actual number of its members.
“I don’t know yet whether the party wants to contest or not. We are still in discussion,” he said adding that the support for Amanah has also been encouraging.
He said the ceramah last night in Kelantan also saw many PAS members who came to listen.
Also present at the event last night were Amanah deputy president Datuk Salahuddin Ayob, former PAS Kota Baharu chief Datuk Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah, Aishah and Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Sabu had refused to comment on the bai'ah (oath of allegiance) made by PAS MPs and state assemblymen who have now joined Amanah.
Instead, he said the matter is best left to ulamak to decide.
All PAS elected representatives have undertake an oath before the PAS Commissioner to divorce their wives with the third talaq if they leave the party voluntarily.
