PAS to announce candidate for Pengkalan Kubor by-election tomorrow

Ahmad Yakub who is also the Kelantan PAS commissioner said the party was in the process of finalising the candidate for the by-election on Sept 25.

"What is certain is that the candidate will be a local," he told reporters after chairing a state exco meeting at Kompleks Kota Darul Naim, here today.

He added that the outcome of the Pengkalan Kubor by-election on Sept 25 would be a tough one to call since PAS will be hoping to wrest the seat from Barisan Nasional.

The by-election has been necessitated by the death of three-term assemblyman Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar of the Barisan Nasional (BN) on Aug 20.

Noor Zahidi had retained the seat for the BN in the last general election, held in May last year, by beating Saharun Ibrahim of PKR and Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary, an independent candidate, by 1,736 votes.
