Puteri UMNO hopes the party leadership will retain all its existing elected representatives to contest in the 14th general election (GE14).

Its chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said this was because all of them had given their best service and commitment.

"We (Puteri) also have a list of candidates... there are new faces and old faces. I will forward them to the party president when the time comes. If possible, we want more women to be given the opportunity to contest.

"In the discussion with the prime minister...he said he would give more opportunities to women and young candidates," she told reporters after launching the Malaysian massage here Monday.

Mas Ermieyati said Puteri UMNO was in the midst of preparing for GE14.

"Beginning next week I will go to the states to meet state Puteri and state UMNO liaison committee members. Together with component parties and UMNO wings, we will strengthen the party and reach out to voters," she said.

In another development, Mas Ermieyati said Puteri UMNO had held a pre-budget workshop recently to get the feedback from young women on their needs.

On the event, Mas Ermieyati, who is also Deputy Tourism and Culture Minister, said the Malaysian massage, which was a new tourism product, would be developed at the international level.

"Malaysian massage is a combination of the best techniques of the traditional massage of the Malays, Indians, Chinese, Peranakan as well as Sabah and Sarawak ethnic groups...we hope that the Malaysian massage will be at par with the Balinese massage and Thai massage," she added.
