If Tun Mahathir Mohamad wants to reform the government, the former Prime Minister must follow democratic process and await the next election, in accordance with Malaysia’s laws and Federal Constitution.
The Prime Minister’s Office in a statement Friday, said the declaration billed, ‘Citizens Declaration’ calls for the resignation of Datuk Seri Najib Razak as Prime Minister demonstrated the depth of their political opportunism and desperation.

"There is an existing mechanism to change the Government and Prime Minister. It's called a general election. And it is the only mechanism that is lawful, democratic and fulfils the people's will,” the statement added.
The declaration was signed by country’s former leaders, opposition leaders, political activists and leaders of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) at PAUM club house, here today.
"In 2013, the Malaysian people expressed their will and elected the current government, led by the Prime Minister (Najib Razak).”
