Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail refused to be dragged into the dispute between Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng over the existence of the Pakatan Rakyat state government.

A news portal reported Azmin as saying on Wednesday that the PR-led Selangor government still existed due to the mandate from the last general election, while Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) was a member of the Pakatan Harapan political coalition.

However, Lim on Thursday rebutted Azmin's statement, saying that "there is no more Pakatan Rakyat".

When asked to comment on the matter when met at the Penang state government's Aidilfitri open house, Dr Wan Azizah who is also the PKR president, just said winning the coming general election was more important for the opposition now.

The PR political coalition consisted of DAP, Pas and PKR, but the coalition was dissolved in July 2015 following the fallout between Pas and DAP.

Recently, the Pas ulama syura council decided to also cut political ties with PKR, but in Selangor, the two parties maintain their relations to allow the three Pas assemblymen to continue as state executive councillors until the next general election. - BERNAMA
