Former Malaysian Ladies Amateur Open champion, Michelle Koh claimed the 2013 Malaysian Ladies Amateur and Junior Girls' Closed golf championship held at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club, here, Thursday.

The 22-year-old Michelle carded a three-under 69 in the final round to follow-up yesterday's 70 for a two-day total of five-under 139.

She received the coveted trophy from the Malaysian Ladies Golf Association (Malga) royal patron, Tuanku Najihah Almarhum Tunku Besar Burhanuddin.

"I played well throughout the tournament and did not feel any pressure," said Michelle, adding that the Malaysian Ladies Amateur Closed has helped in her preparation for the 2013 Queen Sirikit Cup.

The 2013 Queen Sirikit Cup will be held at Sunrise Golf and Country Club in Taiwan from April 17 to 19.

"I will be leaving to Taiwan on Sunday. The event (Queen Sirikit Cup) is the biggest for us (ladies golfers). I would like to finish this year's competition better than last year and I have to play my best," she said.

Following 11 strokes adrift was another national player, Nur Durriyah Damian with a two-day total of six-over 150, to settle in second place.

"I'm glad to claim second spot although I did not play well throughout the competition. I have to train more and take part in many more competitions," said the 18-year-old, who will also be taking part in the Queen Sirikit Cup.

"It is my first time competing in the Queen Sirikit Open. I hope I can produce a good result there," she said.
