FORMER UFC champion Lyoto Machida took a split-decision win over a previously undefeated Eryk Anders at UFC Fight Night in Para, Brazil.

The middleweight bout was the main event of today’s card which was held at Machida's hometown of Belem for the first time in his UFC career.

The Brazilian won via scores of 49-46, 48-47 and 47-48 against his American opponent.

It is the first victory after three loses since December 2014 for the 39-year-old karate expert.

"I can't put a price on it. It's my return to my home city. It's amazing. We used a lot of kicks, a lot of movement. He's a very tough fighter, but we came out with a victory," said Machida as quoted on ESPN.

After the post-fight interview, Machida called for a match against former UFC champion Michael Bisping.

"Michael Bisping, I am here for you, man," he said.
