Hari Raya Aidilfitri may be a day filled with happiness and joy for many, but for some, the day only brings sadness.
For Wan Muhammad Hazim Wan Mohd Fauzi, this year’s raya celebration is not the same like before.
The 19-year-old lost his parents and four siblings who perished in a road accident about two weeks ago and he is now left all alone.
Astro AWANI visited Wan Muhammad Hazim at his home in Putrajaya to take a closer look at how his life is now.
What was obvious during the visit, he has not emotionally recovered from the shock of losing his family.
Nothing was done in preparations for Raya as everything in the house reminds him of his family.
“My late father loves to sit here. This is his place. If anyone else tries to sit here, he will make noise. When he is not around, then anyone can sit here,” he said of a seat at the family's dining area.
The dining table, he recalled, was the last place where the family had their last 'sahur' before the fateful Sunday afternoon and he will never forget the moment.
He could still remember his father's last request.
“My late father reminded me to take care of the house. When I go to bed, I wondered, why did my father say that? Now I am full of regret,” he said.
Astro AWANI accompanied Wan Muhammad Hazim to buy his Raya clothes in Putrajaya before going to Kelantan to fulfill his family’s wish to celebrate Aidilfitri there.
In the incident, which occurred at 2.20pm on June 11 at KM25 of Jalan Bahau-Keratong, a trailer, a Perodua Myvi, a Toyota Vios and a Proton Exora were involved in a collision.
Wan Muhammad Hazim’s parents – Wan Mohd Fauzi Wan Ibrahim, 51, and Mas Noraida M. Yusoff, 45, – and his siblings Wan Muhammad Muhaimmin, 21; Wan Nor Athira, 18; Wan Muhamad Amar Haziq, 13; and Wan Nur Aiesya, seven, were travelling in the Proton Exora.
