MH17: DVI guide to identify bodies
Remembering MH17
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Interpol Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) guide will be used as a reference to identify the bodies of the Malaysian Airlines (MAS) MH17 victims. "The primary methods of identification are fingerprint analysis, forensic dental analysis and DNA analysis," he said in his Facebook page. Apart from that, the victim's personal belongings, medical findings and clothes can also be used in the identification process. The bodies of the victims are currently being brought in a train to the city of Kharkiv through Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had earlier said that six Malaysian members of the recovery team would join the train journey. He said from Kharkiv, the remains would be handed over to representatives from the Netherlands and then flown to Amsterdam on board a Dutch C130 Hercules plane, together with the Malaysian team.
