Is Najib above the law, Muhyiddin questions

"I will not remain quiet but will continue to fight. This is not a one person's struggle but this is a people's struggle," he said at a press conference at his office today.

He said everyone has to work together to ensure Malaysia does not end up as a failed state.

Muhyiddin also remarked that if any attempt to bring charges against the country's top leader was considered a conspiracy, it would mean that the Prime Minister is "above law".

The Pagoh MP also announced that he will remain in UMNO and said the UMNO Supreme Council had on Friday acted hastily in suspending him.

"This is a non-issue. I have been a UMNO member since 1970s. I believe UMNO is a good party," he said

"I have sent a letter to the Registrar of Society to explain if the suspension process is legal," he said in the press conference.

Muhyiddin said he would not have any locus standi to correct the mistakes in the party if he leaves UMNO.

He said his family members and friends from the political arena had advised him to remain in the party to fight for the people.

Former Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal also attended the press conference.

All eyes were on Muhyiddin and questions arose if he would follow the step of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed who announced that he is leaving UMNO last Monday.

"My decision to leave UMNO is because it is no longer UMNO, it is a party dedicated to support Najib (Datuk Seri Najib Razak), protecting Najib and upholding what he does.

"I cannot be a member of such a party," the former premier said on Monday.
