Najib accepts SOP violation compound, does not want 'double standard' privileges

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today admitted his complacency in complying with standard operating procedures (SOP) when visiting a famous chicken rice shop in the capital.

In a post on his Facebook, the Pekan Member of Parliament said he accepted the RM1,500 compound imposed for not registering through the MySejahtera application before entering the eatery.

On the unintentional mistake, Najib said, he willingly accepted the compound, and would pay it within seven days to get a 50 per cent discount.

“I admit my mistake this time of not making my own check-in even though my officers have done so. Normally, I abide by all the SOPs that have been enforced in my activities or movements.

“I will pay before 7 days is up to get an early bird 50 per cent discount, which is a fine of RM750. I will pay the summons for this mistake of mine voluntarily.

“There are no double standards for me. Other people, other parties, ministers, I don't know," he added.

Two days ago, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said a discount of 50 per cent would be given for payments within seven days while 25 per cent over the next seven days.

A compound of RM1,500, he explained, is set for third category offences, which are offences that can cause a low risk of transmission or no impact at all on the community.

However, serious offences such as participating in entertainment activities in pubs or nightclubs, will be imposed a maximum compound of RM10,000, while the centre operator can be charged a compound of up to RM50,000.
