No Malaysians involved in Munich shooting incident
The German authorities have stated that ten people, including the alleged gunman, were killed.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that no Malaysians were involved in the shooting incident, reportedly perpetrated by a lone assailant, at the Olympia Einkaufzentrum, a shopping mall in central Munich, Germany on 22 July 2016.
The German authorities have stated that ten people, including the alleged gunman, were killed and 16 others were injured.
The Embassy of Malaysia in Berlin and the Consulate General of Malaysia in Frankfurt are in close contact with the local authorities and have provided timely updates to the Malaysian community in the city over the incident.
Several groups of Malaysians who were near the vicinity of the mall during the incident, including a team of Malaysian athletes who are currently participating in the 7th Track Open bowling tournament in Munich, have contacted our diplomatic missions and reported to be safe at secured locations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveys its deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims of the incident.
