Police detain man suspected of outraging modesty of girl

Police detained a man who was suspected to have outraged the modesty of a 15-year-old girl in Balakong on Thursday.

Kajang OCPD, ACP Othman Nanyan said in the incident at about 4 pm, the girl wanted to fetch her handbag which was accidentally left in the car at a shopping centre in Cheras Selatan together with three friends.

While going to the car, the victim claimed that she was followed by the man who later groped her buttocks.

"Consequently, the girl screamed while running away from the man who attempted to embrace her but failed. The girl sought her friends' help and asked for assistance from the security guard who contacted the police," he said when contacted by Bernama.

Police later detained the 26-year-old man and took him to the Kajang District Police Headquarters for further action, he said, adding that the man was remanded for three days until tomorrow.
