Salary hike for Selangor state assemblymen
The Selangor State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday approved a salary hike for all 56 state assemblymen effective Jan 1 next year, with its Deputy Speaker getting the highest percentage of 373.3.
The Members of Administration and Members of the State Assembly (Remuneration) (Amended) Enactment 2013 also provided for a salary boost for the Selangor Menteri Besar, Speaker and State Executive Committee lineup.
The menteri besar's monthly salary would be increased from RM14,175.15 to RM29,250; state executive committee, from RM6,109.29 to RM20,250; speaker, from RM6,109.29 to RM22,500; deputy speaker, from RM3,327.50 to RM15,750 and state assemblymen from RM6,000 to RM11,250.
The last salary adjustment was made in 2011.
Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said while tabling the Bill, that the state exco meeting on Nov 22 agreed to the raise based on the 75 percent formula, of the allowance and salary received by administration members and state assemblymen in Sarawak.
Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid also announced that Selangor's 15,643 civil servants would receive a half month bonus, to be paid out in January involving RM14.821 million.
With the payout, the civil servants would have received one and a half month's bonus this year.
The session continues Thursday.
