“The weakness in PR before this was, there was no agenda agreed by all parties. To ensure the sustainability, it is important to have a clear agreement,” he said.

“What is important is that the new pact should not be one that is ad-hoc. It must have a bigger agenda,” he said in an interview with Astro AWANI on Tuesday.

Wan Saiful said the new pact should take note and learn from what the United Kingdom government had done.

“The UK government is a coalition between conservative and liberal democratic. They have a written agreement and is witnessed by all,” he said.

“The agreement covers all areas that the pact fights for and that is what the new pact should do,” he explained.

He said although a joint agreement is signed, component parties are allowed to have different views on issues and carry out their own agendas.

“I think it is not realistic if we expect no differences of opinions. If that is the case, then it is better to be one party,” he said.
