The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) has concluded its public inquiry into an incident at Taiping Prison in January 2025, and found that excessive force, delayed medical treatment, negligence by prison personnel, and other human rights violations were inflicted upon over 100 inmates and had directly contributed to the death of Gan Chin Eng.
