Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing has reportedly resigned as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's campaign coordinator, after only over a month in office, The Malaysian Insider reported today.
According to The Malaysian Insider, sources confirmed that Lim, 69, tendered his resignation early July.
He was appointed to that position on May 22, joining several other prominent figures namely Datuk Seri Dr Abdullah Md Zin, Datuk Johari Baharum, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Rais and Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
It is believed that Lim's appointment was to help boost up Najib's image amidst the controversies surrounding him, namely regarding 1MDB. His appointment created a buzz on social media as the public questioned his integrity.
Lim who is also an advertising specialist and educationist, is also credited for several government campaigns including the 'Tak Nak' anti-smoking campaign and the 'One Heart, One Nation' programme.
Lim is the President and founder of one of the country's top private universities, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, located in Cyberjaya.
