It was for silly for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to ask people not to question about 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
In his latest blog post Tuesday, the former premier likened the matter to someone witnessing a robbery, and then wait until its trials before saying something about it.
"Asking people not to ask any questions until the Auditor General reports is silly. It is like seeing someone robbing and the public must wait until the court hearing is over before talking about it," he said.
Dr Mahathir was commenting about the recent post by Najib in his blog, NajibRazak.com on the FAQ section on some controversial issues that has raised recently.
He said Najib's call to wait until the Auditor General's report can take years and examining the accounts will reveal nothing, including the involvement of Malaysian tycoon, Jho Low.
"It will not explain how Riza Aziz has so much money at a time when 1MDB money disappeared. It will not explain the funny transactions with Petro-Saudi, the banks in Seychelles, Hong Kong and Cayman Islands.
"Then the money from Cayman was brought back and deposited in Singapore. Now the bank says no money has been deposited with it," said Dr Mahathir.
Furthermore, he said the Auditor General can audit but not going to reveal much, and the better thing to do is to set up a commission.
However, he said the members should not be chosen by the Government, as the commission is not just going to investigate 1MDB but also the Government, in which he claimed had clearly failed to oversee the affairs of 1MDB.
Meanwhile, Dr Mahathir also said Najib has failed to address any queries concerning the murder case of Mongolian model, Altantuya Shaariibuu.
He said Najib had rebutted nothing about the case apart from saying that the case is old.
"Beyond saying that the Altantuya case is old, he has rebutted nothing. The matter is still current because the hanging is to be now. The two were released before.
"Their acquittal meant the matter was settled. But now they are to be hanged. Apparently they acted upon orders. Hanging them would be a travesty of justice," said Dr Mahathir.
Besides that, he also questioned whether the purchasing of the aircraft "for security reason" is going to stop the intrusion towards Sabah or the smuggling of arms from across the border, or just confined to people flying in private jets.
On Sunday, in a bid to answer allegations and questions hurled towards him by critics about certain issues, Najib took to his blog to explain his side of the story.
Among the issues he addressed included the Altantuya case, 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M), 1MDB, his performance, 1Malaysia, UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN), and the private jet.
